‘Toxic’ and ‘Oops! I Did It Again’ sail into round two, while ‘Sometimes’ and ‘I Wanna Go’ are early casualties.

After a surprisingly tight race among the 30 Britney Spears music videos in the first round of MTV News’ Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years, we are now down to 16 candidates for her best video of all time!

Perez Hilton and Jordan Miller of Britney fansite BreatheHeavy.com helped the MTV News correspondents weigh in on the first round, which saw the surprising and merciless elimination of the classic “Sometimes” and the newer hit “I Wanna Go.”

“I think that ‘I Wanna Go’ is one of Britney’s all-time best videos,” Perez said of the clip, which was defeated by her even newer video for “Criminal,” co-starring real-life boyfriend Jason Trawick. “I like the ‘Criminal’ video; I don’t love it.”

Meanwhile, some videos were huge leaders early on, like “Toxic,” “Oops! I Did It Again,” “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Me Against the Music” and early “TRL”-era hit “(You Drive Me) Crazy.”

The race between “Lucky” and “Boys” was a closer call than MTV News expected, with only a 7 percent margin between the two videos; “Lucky” was the eventual winner. Another interesting twist was the dark “My Prerogative” clip’s triumph over the happy-go-lucky vibe of “Sometimes.”

With 16 videos left, the race gets much tighter. Now, Britney’s most epic and most-celebrated videos will be up against each other. “(You Drive Me) Crazy” will take on the double-pop queen-powered “Me Against the Music,” featuring Madonna, while Britney’s first video, ” … Baby One More Time,” takes on her most recent clip, “Criminal.”

“Till the World Ends” and “Piece of Me,” which had byes in the first round, are no longer safe, as they are pitted against “My Prerogative” and “Hold It Against Me,” respectively, in round two, which closes at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. The Elite Eight will be announced at 7 a.m. Monday. Help your favorite videos win by voting as many times as you can and campaigning.

‘She’s always doing 25,000 things in a row,’ DJ White Shadow tells MTV News of Gaga’s 2012 plans.

Lady Gaga is hard at work. The Mother Monster is already coming up with ideas for 2012′s Born This Way Tour and even thinking about her next album. When MTV News caught up with pal and musical collaborator DJ White Shadow, he talked about what the Haus has in store for Gaga.

“She’s doing prep for the next round of touring, and she’s always doing 25,000 things in a row,” he told MTV News last week when he stopped by to chat about the opening of Gaga’s pop-up holiday shop at Barneys. “But I think the main focus for her after this season is going to be prepping up for the show, touring new songs for the record.”

Gaga has hinted that she’d like to get Elton John on this next record, but, right now, anything goes. White Shadow — who has worked with Gaga extensively on Born This Way, including on the tracks “Born This Way” and “Americano” — is ready to drop everything to collaborate with Gaga again.

“I want to try and be as close to it as possible, that way I don’t have to wake up at 4 o’clock in the morning and fly to L.A. or wherever or Japan or wherever she’s starting to do stuff,” he explained. “Maybe when the tour starts, she’s working all the time. I send her stuff and she sends stuff. She’s always working on something. It just depends. I know she likes to write when she’s on the road, [so maybe she'll make a] new album during the tour.”

Given the pair’s track record, expect across-the-board sounds on the next project. “The kind of stuff that I send her, some of it is so crazy that I don’t know what you’d call it,” he said. “When I make stuff … I know what’s for her and what’s not for her. Some of it’s structured as songs and some of it is structured as madness, and she goes through it like a gold miner.”

What kind of wedding gift do you give the royal couple who has everything?

The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is on Friday (April 29), so MTV News reached out to some of our favorite Hollywood celebrities — from Ke$ha to Adam Lambert. Fortunately, they had some solid ideas!

“I haven’t met them, so it would be kind of awkward,” the “Tik Tok” singer admitted to MTV News. “I might paint them something. Maybe I’ll paint them a guitar.”

Like Ke$ha, other celebs had suggestions that were from the heart, even if they weren’t the most practical.

“I will go out on a limb and say these two individuals maybe haven’t had Uncrustables before in their life. I would get them a strawberry Uncrustable,” Mike Posner said about the pastry.

David Cook followed up on the all-American food idea. “I feel like they have everything except maybe they probably don’t have an Applebee’s gift card. I’ll go [with an] Applebee’s gift card,” the “American Idol” alum said.

Other stars said they’d gift the British prince and soon-to-be-princess with an item they were personally best known for.

“I’d probably buy William some eyeliner,” Lambert said. “He could do that, he could rock that look. I think.”

Ne-Yo was more empathetic, saying he would give gifts that could help shield them from photographers and blend in with everyday people. “Three years’ supply of sunglasses. Yeah, put them on. A bunch of baseball caps, throw those on, and try to move around like regular people,” the singer said. “I can’t imagine what it would be like having to live under that big of a magnifying glass your whole life … and fake mustaches, that’s what I’d give them.”

Brooke Burke went the more traditional route, saying she would get Will and Kate a journal to record the big event. “I would ask them to really take the time to write down thoughts and phrases and wishes,” Burke said. “And not really to lose sight of how they feel about each other now and to really hold on to that feeling.”

Kathy Griffin had good intentions but the comedian couldn’t resist a puke joke.

“If I had to get the royal couple a gift, I would get them the Royal Couple Vomit Bag, which someone sent me a photo of,” Griffin told us. “So you can actually buy vomit bags with their image on it, and I think that that is an honor and I hope that they see it as such.”

Zoe Saldana is joined by her beautiful sisters Mariel and Cisley in a "W" article called Soul Sisters about the sisterly bonds between the women. In the article that accompanies the feature the sister discuss how close they are and how they have to live near each other……

“Because we’ve had to survive so many things, there’s this special bond that connects us,” says actress Zoë Saldana (center), 33 of her sisters Cisely (left), 32, a producer, and Mariel (right), 34, a nurse.

We were raised in Queens, New York, until my father passed away when I was 9. Our mom, being a single parent, didn’t want us to grow up in a dangerous place, so she moved us to the Dominican Republic, where we stayed with my grandparents. Our mom would live with us there for one year and then spend one year in New York so she could make money to send back home for us. It’s inconceivable for us to be separated. We have to be around each other 24/7.”

And she’s not speaking metaphorically: When Zoë moved to L.A. from New York five years ago to pursue her film career (Avatar, Star Trek), her sisters quickly followed her. These days, they live within nine miles of each other. “I’ll text my mom once a day,” says Zoë. “But my sisters? Every 30 minutes we’re on BlackBerry Messenger.”

Sadly, the world lost a VERY funny man earlier today when comedian Patrice O’Neal, 41, passed away.  He was known as the host of Web Junk 2.0, stand-up cmedy, and several tv sitcoms.  Friends are saying that Patrice died as a result of complications stemming from a stroke he suffered back in October.  He will be missed.
